Charles T. Davidson was a professor of Accounting and Finance in the School of Business at Medgar Evers College (MEC) of the City University of New York. He served as the Deputy Chairperson of the Accounting Department and was the coordinator for the College’s accounting program. Mr. Davidson is an outstanding educator and prize-winning teacher.
He taught courses in auditing, managerial, financial, intermediate, and advanced accounting and has received several awards and recognitions for excellence in teaching and community service. For many years, he also participated in the grading of the CPA examinations. Professor Davidson was the faculty advisor to the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) – MEC Chapter for a number of years. Before joining the faculty at MEC, Professor Davidson worked as a senior auditor at Phillips Petroleum Company (now called Conoco-Phillips) and General Electric.
His professional experience also includes a stint at The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago as a supervisor. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Accounting from Long Island University as well as an M.B.A. in Finance from Rutgers University. Professor Davidson has also attained several professional designations in accounting, auditing, financial planning and management: CPA, CIA, CMA, and CFM. His professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Black Accountants.
In recognition of his years of service and commitment to the hundreds of students at MEC who had the privilege and honor to be taught by him, a scholarship fund was established in the name of Professor Davidson. The Charles T. Davidson Scholarship Fund was established to offer scholarships to students pursuing careers in accounting, finance and other business related fields.
